“Let’s find meaning together in who you are, where you find yourself, and what you uniquely contribute to those around you.”

Your individual challenges are unique to your experiences and circumstances, cultural and spiritual beliefs, and your individual personal identity. Life events, challenges, or transitions may cause us to lose sight of who we truly are and who we want to be.

I help my clients to foster self-acceptance and autonomy, and gain better insight into the symbolism and dynamic significance of their choices and actions. Therapy is one path to developing a sense of meaning and purpose in both adverse and day-to-day experiences.

Meet Dr. Gary Brucato, Ph.D,
Clinical Psychologist

As a clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience, I provide psychotherapy for adolescents and adults to help clients to find relief from unrelenting depression, anxiety, and grief, learn to better navigate relationship difficulties, and create meaning in their lives.

Additionally, I offer unique expertise in the treatment of newly-emerging unusual ideas or beliefs, and perceptual experiences which have begun to affect work, relationships or academic performance. I have co-authored over 50 articles in peer-reviewed psychiatric journals as well as two books on psychiatric topics.

In my work, I strive to develop a judgment-free, authentic connection with every client so that they feel seen, heard, and understood. If you’re looking for support, I encourage you to schedule a complimentary 30-minute consultation with me today.

MY THERAPY STYLE

I enjoy working with individuals who possess unique traits and abilities, but mistake them for faults at first, until learning to embrace, master, and use them for the betterment of the self and others. I like working with clients with diverse backgrounds and experiences, and a willingness to dig deeply and openly into their own thoughts and feelings, endeavoring to interpret symbolism, gain insight into psychological dynamics, grow both inwardly and interpersonally, and discover existential meaning.

In a certain sense, I have always been a psychologist. All of my life, I have been someone to whom people have come for insight and advice, who was drawn to helping people in need or underappreciated by those around them, and who was interested in fearlessly exploring the internal dynamics that motivate human behavior. When I entered my field, it represented an embrace of who it is I always have been.

The answer to such a question will always reflect the particular training and personal philosophy of a given clinician. For me, the purpose of psychotherapy is to draw upon a wide range of tools – exploration of unconscious processes, examination of thought patterns, the identification of existential meaning, and so forth – with one ultimate goal: leaving individuals feeling contented and free to discover and embrace their own unique identities; to recognize their worth; to live in the present moment, rather than in memories of the past or thoughts about the future; and, most essential of all, to freely give and readily receive love.
