"Only you have the ability to create change toward your truth and authentic self."

You may be here because despite your best efforts, you’re unable to just “let go” of past trauma or traumatic experiences. Maybe you’re struggling to feel better on your own, and notice that other areas of your life are being negatively impacted.

Unresolved trauma may make some people more likely to develop an unhealthy relationship with food or addiction to substances. Have you ever promised yourself or others that you’ll change your behavior, only to feel out of control soon after? If so, know that you’re not alone in your struggle.

You are worthy of healing and living the full and healthy life that you desire. Your life doesn’t have to resemble a rollercoaster of failed attempts, self-loathing, shame. Together we can help you work through life’s everyday challenges in a safe space, learn how to better manage stress, and heal past wounds that feel insurmountable.

Meet Christina Mancuso, LCSW,
Licensed Psychotherapist

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), certified traumatologist, health and wellness enthusiast, and nutrition specialist who works with people in New York City and throughout New York state.

My approach to therapy is proactive and aims to facilitate insight and growth by helping you uncover patterns that may be inhibiting your growth. We’ll work as a team to harness your innate strengths and define what success looks like for you. Together we’ll create solutions that are uniquely tailored to you and where you currently are so that you feel ready and empowered to reach your goals. This will allow you to:

  • Overcome trauma and find peace
  • Free yourself of addictions or behaviors that no longer serve you
  • Improve your relationships and how you relate to others
  • Break free of destructive mindsets or behaviors related to food and eating
  • Live authentically and be accepted for who you are

My approach uses elements of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and solution-focused therapy. I support and encourage a health and wellness lifestyle for my clients that looks at their mind, body and spirit. A healthy body fosters clarity which in turn empowers a healthy mind. Once developed, this newfound clarity and awareness is much like a muscle that needs to be strengthened regularly so that it doesn’t atrophy.

I believe every individual has the ability to grow and evolve, as long as you have the desire to do so. If you have the desire, then the process is simply in developing your ability. Once we set out on our path together, we’ll begin to uncover what’s holding you back and approach new events that arise with fluidity and confidence.

As a first step, we’ll discuss what’s weighing you down and what you hope to get out of therapy. Through therapy you’ll discover that it is possible to feel better, live an authentic and vibrant life, and achieve what you set your mind to. Reach out today to schedule your complimentary 30 minute phone consultation.

I look forward to guiding you on your journey towards emotional and physical wellness.

Wishing you Clarity,
Christina

“Christina is a skilled therapist, who brings compassion, as well as a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every session. She is an astute listener and thoughtful with her words. She offers new perspective and solution-oriented thoughts on even the most complicated of matters. During every session, Christina creates a non-judgmental and open space for clients to reflect on their everyday lives.”

Jeannette, R.N.

“Working with Christina has been a game changer for me. She has helped me to reframe some very painful past experiences so that I can make real-time behavioral adjustments and not repeat the same patterns that have caused me so much difficulty. I think it speaks volumes that she is someone I would gladly be friends with even if we weren't working together. THAT is a hard balance to find, but Christina checks all of the boxes for me.”

Are you ready to grow and expand into the life you want?

MY THERAPY STYLE

I view therapy as continuing education on yourself. It is really an opportunity to explore who you are and why the patterns in your life exist. From there it can act as a catalyst. A catalyst that can help you to gain awareness. A catalyst that can facilitate change and development. Therapy can also act as assurance. In allowing one to appreciate and accept who and where they are.

Mostly how I view therapy is in it having the potential to be exactly what you want it to be. “It is what you make of it.” Much of that depends on how ready you are to embark upon your journey. Some take their time and others are ready to persevere. It has all the potential that you invest in having it succeed.

I believe in the therapeutic process and the growth opportunities that it inevitably presents. I view therapy as an educational opportunity to learn more about yourself and the decisions one makes in how they will choose to live their life. I enjoy working with those who feel ready to embark on that journey.

In therapy the goal is geared toward gaining insight and awareness. The challenge then is in what you choose to do with that awareness. We are all continuously growing, myself included. When we gain awareness we are posed with a life changing growth opportunity, I hold myself accountable to the same expectations that I place on my clients. My treatment philosophy governs the way in which I live my life.

There’s still a lot of stigma surrounding getting help for mental health concerns. I enjoy enlightening my clients on the complete opposite. Contrary to popular belief, therapy is not just for when you’re struggling.

Therapy can help you if you’re feeling “stuck” by empowering you to make the change you want to see in your life. Those that have the ability to challenge themselves, ask the tough questions and facilitate change are the strong and the brave.

Some people choose to walk through their lives and are content with what they see at face value. Others choose to explore what the detail will tell. Those individuals grow, evolve, and live a fuller life. Therapy can help you gain an in-depth understanding of who you are and your “why.” I would tell a new client who’s on the fence to not worry about committing to anything just yet.

Let’s start by discussing what’s weighing on you, or what you hope to gain, and start there. As your guide on this journey, my goal is to help you reconnect with your truth and what happiness looks like in your life.
